While famous David Letterman fans such as Howard Stern and Jimmy Kimmel publicly air their hatred for Jay Leno, the CBS late-night legend takes a softer approach in his upcoming interview with Oprah Winfrey.
“Jay and I were friends — we were always friends, before all of this happened,” he says, addressing the feud in a teaser from his Oprah’s Next Chapter sit-down airing Jan. 6 on OWN.
“I’ve never met anyone quite like Jay. And I will say, and I’m happy to say, I think he’s the funniest guy I’ve ever known,” Letterman adds. “Just flat out. If you go and see him do his nightclub act — just the funniest, the smartest, wonderful observationist and very appealing as a comic. Therefore, the fact that he is maybe the most insecure person I have ever known — I could never reconcile that.”
In the episode, Letterman also addresses his struggle with depression and the 2009 scandal that revealed his Late Show affairs.
Howard Stern said he wanted Rosie O’Donnell next to him on the AGT panel, but NBC said there are no current plans for that happening. According to Deadline, NBC is not in talks with O’Donnell and there are no plans for her to be a judge on season 8 of America’s Got Talent.
The Huffington Post initially reported Stern’s desires to have O’Donnell as the third judge last week. “Rosie and Howard have had a tough past but now they are great friends, he thinks she is a great talent and will bring a new energy to that show.” a friend of Howard Stern’s told The Huffington Post.
However, Rosie recently stated that she was in talks with NBC and is excited about the opportunity, “I am very interested in doing America’s Got Talent with Howard Stern and I am talking to them,” O’Donnell told The New York Observer. “Let’s see how that works.”
New Jersey resident Patricia Krentcil also known as Tanning Mom, said she is not interested in the media coverage surrounding child endangerment allegations and is making a name with a self-tanning product and autobiography.
The overly tanned New Jersey mother was accused of causing skin burns to her six-year-old daughter by taking her into a tanning booth, has reportedly been banned from at least 63 tanning salons in the New York metropolitan area.
The New York Post claims that some salons have taken extra steps in preventing the woman from accessing their business by placing “wanted” posters behind their counters informing employees to keep her off the premises.
NBC confirmed today that Howard Stern will back on America’s Got Talent in the summer of 2013. Although NBC has not yet released any information as to who may be joining the judging panel, Howard has made it known he would love to be sitting next to Rosie O’Donnell.
“Rosie and Howard have had a tough history but now they are good friends,” a friend of Stern`s tells Huffington Post. “He thinks she is a great talent and will bring a new energy to America’s Got Talent.”
“NBC wants to keep Howard happy, and the chemistry between the judges is what makes the show a huge success,” a network insider says. “Just think what Rosie did when she joined ‘The View’ suddenly the show became a must see on television. At the moment, a list of names exists, but if it were solely up to Howard, Rosie would get the job.”
The Huffington Post confirmed that if offered the position Rosie would definitely consider it.
The road to hell is paved with good money. Artie Lange skyrocketed from a dirty comedian to the Howard Stern Show, only to crash and burn spectacularly. The walking cautionary tale has returned to the post-radio scene, and this appearance plugs an upcoming scars-and-all autobiography appropriately titled Crash and Burn.
Lange is always more than honest about his disastrous personal life, and while Mohr doesn’t quite go fully in depth, the host gets Lange to open up a smidge wider than usual. Mohr coaxes out detailed accounts of Lange’s heroin use, his stays in various psych wards, his reported suicide attempt, and the appearance that sank sportscaster Joe Buck’s HBO talk show.
SiriusXM Radio announced today that comedian and cohost of the Opie & Anthony Show Jim Norton, will host The Jim Norton Show. Norton’s show will follow a live, weekly call-in format where he will be able to offer advice on life, work, sex, mma, comedy and whatever else callers want advice on.
“From years of being on the road and on the air, Jim Norton has seen it all, and he’s never afraid to give his honest, unflinching opinion on any topic. On ‘The Jim Norton Show,’ he will turn the same sharp eye and mind that he often turns on himself on listeners and guests, and the results are sure to be uncomfortable for some—and hilarious for all. We’re excited to expand Jim’s on-air presence on our platform with this new show.” Scott Greenstein
“The best part of me doing an advice show is that I am completely unqualified to give advice to anyone.” Jim Norton
